Failure can be defined as a lack of success. Failure is not achieving something you expected out of yourself and wanted for yourself. What might seem successful to someone might be a failure to someone else. Its meaning is subjective. The environment you have can influence your definition of failure. If the environment you have is competitive, what you might consider failure might be something else for someone in a more laid-back environment. The situations we have to deal with as teenagers are mostly competitive and may cause us to compare ourselves to others often.
How to deal with failure?
Coping with failure is hard. We sometimes feel like we are failing at every aspect of our lives, and staying strong and focused can get hard. There will be a time when you might not feel strong enough to deal with a situation, and there is nothing wrong with that, you don't always have to feel strong. There is always a reason behind failure, there's always a root cause. A common example of failure is not scoring well on a test. Let's say you studied hard for your upcoming math test and you got horrible marks, there's always a reason behind it maybe your study technique wasn't efficient for you, maybe you need to try another method or maybe you're simply not interested in math if that's the reason if you have the option to drop the subject, you should, because there's no point in learning about something you have no interest in and if you don't have the option to drop it don't keep high expectations for yourself in that particular subject and try to use study methods which are comfortable to you.
Why it's important
Failure can teach you a lot about yourself, the particular thing you're failing at and coping with low points in your life. If you fail at something you're passionate about, remember that it's not permanent. Failure teaches you what not to do, which eventually helps you get better and achieve your goals.
Determining your failure by comparing yourself to others is a big mistake. You have your own reasons to be where you are and get the results you get.
