"the time of the month" " P" "Code red" "leak week" we all have names for this. Periods.

It's high time society starts talking about this normally, instead of using code names. The worst I've heard is ' girl flu' Every girl eventually gets it. It's nothing to be ashamed about or to hide. For the tweens and teens who don't know about it. A period is a part of the menstrual cycle. A girl or woman bleeds from her lower intimate area or vagina once a week every month. Girls get their first period at the ages of 9- 16. Women get their period every month because their body releases a tissue it no longer needs, and also because their uterus gets thicker. When you get your period you may experience mood swings, Cramps, and slight weight gain or loss. And to be honest it sucks. But it is a sign that your body is healthy, and is functioning just right.

How to deal with periods -

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and Mood swings - You might have many mood swings before getting your period. You will mainly experience crying and anger. You can't really control much here. The best you can do is meditate to maintain a balance or you can keep yourself busy with work.

Bleeding- Girls who get their period must know about this. but if you did not. Pads, tampons or menstrual cups collect the blood.

Cramps- Let's face it these are the worst things about periods. For people who don't know, sometimes before getting your period , but mostly while your own your period, your abdomen starts aching. The power and affect of it is different for everyone, to a point some girls don't even get cramps. Anyway it can get hard to deal with them, using a hot bottle is very useful basically you get a heater bottle, and put it on the area where your getting cramps. There are some which are specifically made for periods you can get those too. But if you are in the public and can't always cary a heater bottle. You can keep yourself hydrated, also make sure to reduce your stress, there are also cramp patches sold,t, those are heat patches you wear on your lower belly , and put your clothes over it.

FUN FACT -

It has recently been found out that menstrual blood is very useful, Stem cells found in period blood, while they have somewhat different properties, were found to potentially help in the case of wound healing, and other specific diseases.

Menstrual blood is the only source of blood that is not traumatically induced. Yet in modern society, this is the most hidden blood, the one so rarely spoken of and almost never seen, except privately by women - Judy Grahn
